More About Central Island Beaches

The Central Island boast some of the best vacationing spots on the island. Great weather and a laid back pace give it great island charm.

PARKSVILLE BEACH - This long stretch of flat sand and shallow waters located in Parksville is a romantic getaway. Home to the annual August sandcastle competition.

MIRACLE BEACH - Located between Campbell River and Courtenay in Miracle Beach Provincial Park. A wide, sandy safe beach for families. It has camping with showers, a playground and tons of hiking trails in the park itself. It also has warm, shallow waters for swimming.

RATHTREVOR BEACH - Located in Rathtrevor Beach Provincial Park about 3 km south of Parksville, this 2km long sandy beach has stunning old growth forest encircling it. There is also camping availiable.

QUALICUM BEACH - Located about 12 km north of Parksville. It is a sandy beach that is great for digging clams and fishing.

COMOX BEACHES - Often overlooked, there are miles of sandy beachs north and south of the BC Ferry terminal in Comox.

KYE BAY - Located about 5 km north of Comox, this is a long sandy beach. Nearby is GOOSE SPIT REGIONAL PARK, which also has some great beaches.

OYSTER BAY SHORELINE REGIONAL PARK - Located in Campbell River and consisting of gravel and crushed oyster shells, this beach features a walking and biking trail that follows the coastline.
